The Perak Museum is a marvel of Victorian and Moorish architecture and the first and oldest museum in Malaysia, highlighting the history of Perak through its culture, costumes, handicrafts, and games.
Founded in 1883 by Sir Hugh Low, the museum initially showcased natural history, particularly ethnography, zoology, botany, and geology, all key areas of interest to its founder.
Be sure to check out more than 8000 pieces of amazing historical and anthropological artefacts, such as weapons, musical instruments, pottery, and jewellery, that showcase the diversity and creativity of the people of Perak.
The museum also features exhibits on the history of Taiping, the development of the tin mining industry, and the role of Perak in the Malaysian independence movement.
The Perak Museum is a treasure trove of knowledge and inspiration for anyone who wants to explore the past and present of Perak.
