KUALA LUMPUR, 16 July 2023 – The Malaysian state of Perak successfully staged the pre-launch of Visit Perak Year 2024 (VPY2024), which was officiated by the Menteri Besar of Perak The Right Honourable Dato’ Seri Saarani bin Mohamad at NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. This pre-launch is an initiative by the Perak state government to draw more tourists and boost Perak’s appeal as a leading tourism destination in the region.
The logo and teaser video of VPY2024 were unveiled during the pre-launch to promote and create further awareness towards VPY2024 among domestic and international tourists.
In line with the VPY2024 pre-launch, Perak state’s tourism arm Tourism Perak Management Berhad (Tourism Perak) organised the Perak Travel Fair 2.0 for three days on the 14th until 16th July 2023 beginning from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Centre Court, NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.
22 tourism product operators, six food manufacturers, and four handicraftsmen participated in this fair to showcase Perak’s unique tourism offerings.
As an extension to the pre-launch, Tourism Perak also collaborated with the Malaysian Travel Agents Association (MATTA) Perak Chapter in bringing 32 travel and tour agents from the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) to Perak under a five-day and four-night programme called TTAA FamTrip to Perak from the 16th until 21st July 2023.
The programme aims to provide exposure and the latest information regarding Perak’s exciting tourism products and destinations that can be specially packaged for the Thai market. MATTA and TTAA even signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the ties between the two organisations so that more Thai tourists will visit Malaysia, particularly Perak.
In conjunction with VPY2024, the Perak state government aims for Perak to receive eight million domestic tourist arrivals and 350,000 international tourist arrivals. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Perak was in fourth position among the states in Malaysia that registered the highest number of domestic tourist arrivals, which totalled 14.6 million.
Perak is not only rich in its gastronomic options but also multi-ethnic and multi-cultural with an extensive range of recreational activities such as cycling, golfing, dipping in natural hot springs, undergoing health spa treatments, visiting theme parks, learning about and purchasing handicrafts and artworks, including admiring the creative murals painted by foreign and local artistes.
